Store rederier ser mod Indien for nye skibe

Indien har store ambitioner indenfor den maritime industri, og satser på at være blandt de 10 bedste søfartsnationer i 2030 og de fem bedste i 2047. Regeringen har indskudt 2,9 milliarder dollars i en ny maritim udviklingsfond, mens 3 milliarder dollar skal komme fra private investorer.

Indgåelse af strategiske partnerskab med nogle af verdens største containerrederier er motoren i projektet, og interessen er gensidig, Både Maersk, CMA CGM og MSC har taget godt imod planerne, og har - eller er i gang med - at indgå store aftaler med inderne.

Senest har danske Søren Toft, der er topchef for verdens største containerrederi MSC, ført samtaler med den indiske handels- og industriminister Piyush Goyal om investeringer i containerterminaler, skibsbygning og vedligeholdelse.

Maersk har allerede underskrevet et aftalememorandum med det indiske Cochin-skibsværft om at udforske mulighederne for skibsreparation og skibsbygning. Allerede i år vil det første Maersk skib anløbe Cochin for reparation.

Et tilsvarende tæt parløb med CMA CGM blev drøftet mellem den indiske premierminister Modi og CMA CGMs administrerende direktør Rodolphe Saadé, da den indiske premierminister for nyligt besøgte CMA CGMs hovedkvarter i Marseille.
