M/F Faaborg III navngivet i Faaborg

Den nye færge ’Faaborg III’ blev lørdag navngivet af borgmester Hans Jørgensen, Faaborg-Midtfyn Kommune, ved en ceremoni på Faaborg havn. Bagefter var der lagkage til alle gæster om bord på færgen.

Den nye færge er lidt større end den gamle, ’Faaborg II’, men kan medbringe det samme antal passagerer. Til gengæld er der plads til lidt flere biler og langt mere gods.

Færgen, der skal sejle på ruten Faaborg - Avernakø – Lyø, er bygget på Søby Værft. Inklusive landanlæg har den kostet 75 millioner kroner, hvoraf staten betaler de 50 millioner kroner og kommunen resten.
