M/F Berlin navngives i maj

Den nye Scandlines færge M/F Berlin, som skal indsættes på Gedser-Rostock ruten, vil blive officielt navngivet den 3. maj. Navngivningen finder sted i Rostock ved et større arrangement, som rederiet netop har inviteret til. Det er endnu uklart, hvornår færgen præcist kommer i drift.

”Planen er, at færgen skal prøvesejles i Østersøen i fem dage i starten af april.Derefter skal færgen ligge ved sin kommende kajplads i Rostock i nogle uger, hvor ramperne skal tilpasses”, siger presseansvarlig i Scandlines Anette Ustrup Svandesen.

M/F Berlin forventes at forlade det fynske værft Fayard midt i april. Søsterskibet M/F Copenhagen forventes indsat i sensommeren 2016. De to nye færger skal erstatte M/F Kronprins Frederik og M/F Prins Joachim, der i dag sejler på Gedser-Rostock.

For at sikre en stabil overgang og fortsat at kunne følge med trafikudviklingen har Scandlines dog besluttet at beholde M/F Kronprins Frederik og benytte den som afløserfærge på både Gedser-Rostock og Rødby-Puttgarden. Med en ekstra færge, der kan indsættes på begge ruter, sikres såvel den samlede kapacitet som stabiliteten i sejlplanerne.
