Svitzer rykker ind i Montreal, Canada

Svitzer har indgået aftale med havnen i Montreal om bugsering, slæbebådsydelser og isbrydning. Svitzer har mobiliseret to is-klasse slæbebåde til havnen i Montreal, Svitzer Nerthus og Svitzer Njal. En tredje slæbebåd ankommer i løbet af april.

”Canada er et af vores vigtigste vækstmarkeder i Amerika, og vi har udvidet vores operation i landet i løbet af de sidste par år. Montreal er en stor chance for vores fortsatte ekspansion og vi har oplevet en stor efterspørgsel fra vores lokale og globale kundebase af tjenesteydelser på St. Lawrence floden”, siger Martin Helweg, administrerende direktør for Svitzer Amerika.

Slæbebådene er 30m ASD slæbebåde med 60 ton pullerttræk og 5.000 HP. De blev bygget på East Isle Shipyard i Prince Edward Island i 2009. Efter fem års tjeneste i Skandinavien, blev skibene indsat i det nordlige Canada ved Baffin Island.

I løbet af de næste 12-18 måneder vil Svitzer mobilisere yderligere slæbebåde, så der kan ydes service på St. Lawrence floden hele året rundt.
