Scandlines appointes new CEO
SHIPPING: Scandlines has appointed the 54 years old Swede Bengt Pihl as its new CEO. Pihl has long-term experience in the management of international companies and most recently, he was CEO of the Sanitec Group.
The new CEO Bengt. Bengt Pihl's CV is highly international. He completed his academic studies at the renowned universities of Lund (Sweden), Stanford and Harvard. Father of five children, Bengt Pihl held positions in the United States, Argentina, Switzerland, Germany and Sweden. As early as the beginning of the 80s, he held management positions in international companies. Bengt Pihl takes the position of Stefan Sanne who was CEO on an interim basis.
Håkan Samuelsson will likewise take the chair of the supervisory boards of Scandlines. He takes the position of Jan Stenberg who held the chair of the supervisory boards ever since the company was acquired by a consortium of Allianz Capital Partners, 3i and Deutsche Seereederei in August 2007. Mr. Samuelsson's career included executive positions at Scania and the CEO position at MAN. He is also a member of the supervisory boards of Siemens AG and Volvo Car Corporation.
The supervisory boards will also be strengthened by the Dane Flemming R. Jacobs who has decades of experience in leading positions at Maersk and other important shipping and transport companies in Europe, Asia and North America. He is a member of various other supervisory boards, e.g. that of DVB Bank.
