Maersk Line bekræfter ransagning

De sydafrikanske konkurrencemyndigheder mistænker seks containerrederier, herunder Maersk Line og Safmarine, for ulovlige prisaftaler i forbindelse med karteldannelse. Maersk Line bekræfter, at en ransagning har fundet sted, men pointerer, at resultatet af undersøgelsen ikke er givet på forhånd.

”Vi kan bekræfte, at den sydafrikanske konkurrencekommission (SACC) den 28. september udførte en ikke annonceret ransagning i vores Maersk Line- og Safmarine hovedkontor i Cape Town, Sydafrika. Formålet med ransagningen var at konstatere, om der var bevis for en overtrædelse af den sydafrikanske konkurrencelov 89 af 1998 i relation til den påståede ulovlige prisfastsættelse. Vi samarbejder fuldt ud med SACC”, skriver Maersk Line i en kommentar og tilføjer:

”Det faktum, at sådanne ransagninger bliver udført, betyder ikke, at en virksomhed har brudt konkurrenceloven, det betyder heller ikke, at udfaldet af ransagningen er afgjort på forhånd. Ikke annoncerede ransagninger er ofte et indledende skridt i undersøgelser af mistanker om overtrædelser af konkurrencelovgivningen”.

”Da undersøgelsen er i gang, kan vi ikke komme med yderligere detaljer på nuværende tidspunkt”, slutter Maersk Line.

De andre rederier, som er under mistanke af de sydafrikanske myndigheder, er MSC, CMA CGM, Hamburg Süd og Pacific International Line.
