Maersk: Changes in the HR organization

SHIPPING: Senior Vice President for Group HR Bill Allen has decided to leave the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group and return to the USA after seven years in Denmark. His successor will be Lucien Alziari, whom brings a strong track record from major global companies.

"The past seven years with the Group has been a fantastic experience for me and a great opportunity to work together with really skilled colleagues and different types of businesses around the world", says Bill Allen, who will be leaving Denmark by the end of 2012.

"As Head of Group HR, Bill has created tangible results. He has been a key person in setting our strong executive teams and has implemented a systematic approach to both performance and talent management across the Group", says Group CEO Nils S. Andersen.

"I want to welcome Lucien Alziari as new Head of Group HR. Lucien is a global HR leader who brings a strong track record at major global companies with a particular focus on talent assessment, development and deployment."

British national Lucien Alziari formerly held the position of Senior Vice President of HR and Corporate Responsibility at Avon Products in New York.

Prior to that, he led PepsiCo's widely benchmarked Talent development program.

"I am privileged to be joining A.P. Moller - Maersk and to be leading the Group's HR team. A.P. Moller - Maersk is a leading global company with an outstanding reputation and a strong portfolio of businesses. I hope my passions for talent management, growing international businesses and building great HR teams will help to build on the strong legacy that Bill Allen and the team have put in place", says Lucien Alziari.

During 2012, Bill Allen has, in addition to his Group responsibilities, been a member of the management team in Maersk Line, and amongst other led the restructuring of the Centre functions in Maersk Line.

Michael Chivers will be taking up the position as Head of Maersk Line HR.

Michael Chivers, also a British national, has extensive international experience working for the Sony Group since 1990, most recently within the joint venture Sony Ericsson.

He comes from a position as Corporate Vice President HR for Sony Mobile, which he has held since 2009, based in Lund, Sweden.

Apart from his recent years in Sweden, Michael's international assignments include positions based in Singapore, Cologne and Berlin.

Both Lucien Alziari and Michael Chivers will be joining A.P. Moller – Maersk towards the end of September.
