DFDS mister Newhaven-Dieppe kontrakt

DFDS’ kontrakt vedrørende driften af den offentligt ejede rute mellem Dieppe i Frankrig og Newhaven i England udløber ved udgangen af 2015. Ruten besejles af skibe fra Transmanche Ferries. Færgerne opereres af DFDS.

Den offentlige ejer, Syndicat Mixte de Promotion de l'Activité Transmanche, SMPAT, har nu meddelt DFDS, at skibs- og rutedriften ikke vil blive sat i udbud for 2016. DFDS stopper derfor med at drive ruten ved udgangen af året. Rutens årlige omsætning er omkring 300 millioner kroner.

I forbindelse med kontraktens ophør forventer DFDS, at der skal afholdes nogle begrænsede omkostninger.

Samtlige søfolk og hovedparten af den landbaserede organisation overtages af SMPAT.

Færgeruten blev udbudt i licitation i 2014. DFDS valgte ikke at byde, da ruten giver underskud. DFDS fik forlænget den eksisterende aftale til slutningen af 2015.

Det eneste bud på en ny kontrakt kom fra MyFerryLink, som dengang lå til at tabe en sag ved den engelske konkurrencemyndighed om, hvor vidt selskabet i det hele taget måtte drive færger på tværs af Kanalen.

SMPAT valgte derfor at forlænge kontrakten med DFDS med et år. Eurotunnel, der ejer My FerryLink, har siden tabt sagen og solgt to færger til DFDS.
