DFDS kontraherer to nye ro/ro-skibe

DFDS har kontraheret to fragtnybygninger (ro/ro-skibe), som skal bygges af Jinling Shipyard i Kina. Kontraheringen er en del af DFDS’ løbende flådefornyelse og vil imødekomme fragtkundernes vækst samt effektivisere driften og reducere miljøpåvirkninger.

De nye skibe konstrueres til hver at transportere 6.700 lanemeter fragt svarende til omkring 450 trailere. Størrelsen af de nye skibe medfører en markant reduktion af omkostningen og miljøpåvirkningen pr. fragtenhed.

De repræsenterer en ny generation af miljøvenlige ro/ro-skibe, der overholderne miljøreglerne fra den nye IMO-standard EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index). Hertil kommer scrubbere for at fjerne svovl, systemer til behandling af ballastvand og en række energibesparende tiltag.

Begge nybygninger vil blive sat ind i DFDS’ rutenetværk på Nordsøen, når de efter planen leveres i begyndelsen af 2019. DFDS har optioner for yderligere fire skibe.

Investeringen i de to nye skibe udgør i alt omkring en milliard kroner, som betales i perioden fra kontrahering til levering i begyndelsen af 2019. Mere end halvdelen af betalingen sker ved leveringen.
