To luksus yachter op i røg

To luksus yachter til en samlet værdi af 24 millioner dollar - svarende til mere end 160 millioner kroner - gik i weekenden op i røg i amerikanske Fort Lauderdale. Ingen mennesker kom til skade ved branden, som det tog brandvæsenet godt fire timer at få under kontrol.

Flere end 60 brandfolk kæmpede imod branden, der startede i den ene yacht, men hurtigt bredte sig til den anden.

Da de første brandbiler nåede frem, var der allerede ild i begge skibe. Indsatsen blev hurtigt koncentreret om at forhindre, at branden bredte sig til flere skibe i havnen.

De to yachter, Lohrengrin med en længde på 161 fod og Reflections på 107 fod, sank efterfølgende.

Specialister arbejder nu på at tømme vragene for brændstof for at forhindre yderligere forurening. Redaktionen
