Tall Ships Races Aarhus holder flyttedag

De mange større og mindre sejlskibe, der deltager i Tall Ships Races 2013 må i år lægge til kaj et nyt sted. Det centrale område af havnen, hvor arrangementet blev afholdt i 2007, kan ikke benyttes i år på grund af det omfattende havnebyggeri.

”Aarhus Havn er jo under en meget stor forandring. Vi er i gang med at bygge det moderne Aarhus hernede, så derfor har det selvfølgelig været en udfordring at sikre, at der bliver plads”, siger borgmester i Aarhus Jacob Bundsgaard.

Skibene bliver i modsætning til 2007, hvor Aarhus sidst var værtsby, i stedet henvist for til kajerne ved AarhusKarlshamn og Filmbyen i Aarhus længst inde i havnen.

Aarhus Kommune forventer, at omkring 500.000 vil se eller besøge de i alt 104 imponerende sejlskibe, der kommer fra 17 forskellige lande og medbringer omkring 3.000 besætningsmedlemmer.

Sidst Aarhus var værtsby, i 2007, gav det, ifølge beregninger lavet af VisitDenmark, byen en ekstra indtægt til de handlende og turisterhvervene på omkring 69 millioner kroner. Den daværende borgmester Nicolai Wammen betegnede efterfølgende arrangementet som en stor succes.

Tall Ships Races 2013 i Aarhus finder sted fra den 4. til den 7. juli.
