Skotsk gasfelt afgørende for Maersk Oil

Det store skotske gasfelt Culzean, som Maersk Oil ejer sammen med BP og et japansk olieselskab, kan komme til at spille en afgørende rolle for, om Mærsk får succes med at udskille sine olieaktiviteter i et selvstændigt børsnoteret selskab. Det skriver dagbladet Børsen

Efter tabet af Maersk Oils aktiviteter i Qatar, der udgjorde 40 procent af selskabets omsætning, er Culzean et af tre store projekter, der skal trække den selvstændige børsnotring igennem. Gasfeltet er på vej mod færdiggørelse.

"Det vil årligt levere svarende til halvanden gang Danmarks årlige gasforbrug og svarende til 5 procent af UK's årlige gasforbrug. Så det er stort for os, og det er stort for UK. Hvis du ser på vores størrelse, så er det her jo et projekt af en størrelse, som ’majors’ normalt arbejder med", siger Morten Kelstrup, landedirektør for Maersk Oil UK, til Børsen.

De to andre store projekter i Maersk Oil er det danske Tyra-felt og det gigantiske norske Johan Sverdrup felt.

Maersk Oil kom ud af årets 1. kvartal med et overskud på 328 millioner dollar, mod et underskud på 29 millioner dollar i samme kvartal 2016.

Culzean feltet, der ligger 145 sømil øst for Aberdeen, ventes at starte produktion i 2019.
