RAL looking for new yard
Royal Arctic Line is exploring the market to find a new shipyard to for their newbuilding program. Apart from four settlements ships it also includes a container ship for the route between Aalborg and the main ports in Greenland.
"We are currently working hard with several shipyards in Europe now that we have taken a principled decision to build the vessels in an area where the culture is similar to ours. We are talking with several German shipyard because we already have a financing package from a German lender, and it could ease the process considerably to use the agreement. But it is too early to say who or what will get it,” says CEO of Royal Arctic Line, Jens Andersen, to the magazine Maritime Denmark.
"We are working vigorously to present the various options and prices from the different yards on our board for the 7th of March. We hope to obtain a mandate from the board to negotiate the final contracts in place", says Jens Andersen.
If the company manages to find a shipyard the four ships will be put into operation at the end of 2014 at the earliest.
