Payroll Controller

Are you ready to take on the responsibility as part of our Marine Payroll team for a diverse fleet and various nationalities? Together we are ensuring accurate marine payroll and compliance with regulations, barging agreements, and processes. You will be a key figure for the seafarers and their payroll, working closely with your colleagues in the Marine Payroll team and the crewing department to deliver seamless payroll processing.

On behalf of DFDS, MARPRO Group is looking for a Payroll Controller for the office in Copenhagen. You will be a part of the Marine Payroll team and you will report directly to the Head of Marine Payroll.

The job

As a Payroll Controller, you will play an important role in managing marine daily payroll operations. Your responsibilities will involve a variety of tasks, each essential for the efficient operation of DFDS marine payroll systems and ensuring compliance. You will be responsible for calculating and processing payroll payments. This position demands precision and accuracy to ensure timely and correct disbursement of payroll to DFDS seafarers. Alongside the marine payroll team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting payroll issues that arise and providing valuable input for system and processes improvements.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Preparation of input for payroll runs.
  • Monthly reporting and payments.
  • Participate when conducting year-end closing.
  • Updating internal manuals to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Reporting to SKAT and other external parties.
  • Processing payroll payments in DKK, EUR, and USD.
  • Provide support with payroll-related queries across departments.

Professional qualifications:

  • Relevant education.
  • Experience with payroll.
  • Experience in working with accounting and finance systems including Excel.
  • Advantageous to have experience with crewing system Adonis or other payroll systems.
  • Advantageous to have knowledge of Dynamics365.
  • Advantageous to have knowledge of the maritime industry.
  • Advantageous to have experience with DIS salary.

  • Ability to communicate complex information effectively.
  • Proficiency in Danish and English languages is required.
