Orskov Yard buys up and expands
YARDS: Orskov Yard in Frederikshavn is filled with optimism after a record profit in last financial year and a filled order book. The shipyard has bought a 42.000 m2 area, which until now was rented, and is constructing a large new administration building at the same time.
Orskov has bought all buildings, slipways, docks and cranes in the 42.000 m2 area, South Orskov, which until now has been rented by Frederikshavn Maritime Busineespark, owned by Lauritzen, until 2025.
"We have bought it, the money have been deposited and the deed is being registered", says yardowner Jeppe Orskov to nordjyske.dk
With the buying of South Orskov, the six-year-old shipyard has secured the production facilities in Frederikshavn Port until 2047.
Simultaneously a brand new administration building of 1100 square meter is being constructed at South Orskov, which will be finished before May.
"With this, we will have assembled administration, engineer- and project departments, just as at North Orskov", says Jeppe Orskov to the newspaper.
The present administration is in a former workshop which will now return to its previous function.
Through reparations and rebuilding of approximately 150 ships, the shipyard reached a total turnover of half a billion DKK last financial year, of which 41.3 million was left after paying all expenses.
