Ocean Plastic Forum skudt i gang

Tirsdag blev Ocean Plastic Forum officielt indviet ved et kickoff-møde, hos Danske Rederier. Med over 100 deltagere var den store sal i Danske Rederier fyldt til bristepunktet, da partnerskabet Ocean Plastic Forum blev lanceret. Udviklingsminister Ulla Tørnæs åbnede konferencen.

”Løsningen på plastikforurening skal findes i international handling fra både erhvervsliv, universiteter, civilsamfundsgrupper og politiske aktører på globalt, regionalt og lokalt niveau. Plastik må ikke ende i havene,” sagde Ulla Tørnæs.

Bag Ocean Plastic Forum står en bred gruppe interessenter, der arbejder aktivt på at få virksomheder, iværksættere og andre aktører til sammen at finde nye løsninger til både indsamling og genanvendelse af de store mængder plast, der er ophobet både i havene. På konferencen deltog virksomheder, NGO’er, iværksættere, myndigheder og kommunalpolitikere.

Hos Danske Rederier tager man aktivt del i arbejdet med en kommende handlingsplan for marint plastik i FN’s internationale søfartsorganisation, IMO, ligesom man på hjemmefronten er partner i Miljø og Fødevareministeriets kampagne ’Sammen om et hav uden affald’, og altså også i Ocean Plastic Forum.

”Vi er naturligvis glade for, at vi kunne lægge hus til den officielle lancering af Ocean Plastic Forum. Det er glædeligt, at det blå Danmark kan gøre brug af kompetencer inden for nye segmenter, og samtidig bidrage til løsningen af udfordringen med plast i havet,” siger Maria Skipper Schwenn, direktør i Danske Rederier.

De sidste år er flere initiativer iværksat for at komme de store mængder plastaffald til livs. Så sent som i september søsatte NGO-projektet ’Ocean Cleanup’ sit enorme flydesystem i Stillehavet i samarbejde med Maersk Supply for at komme den store plastiksuppe til livs.
