MOL kontraherer bulker med fast sejl

Det japanske rederi Mitsui OSK Lines / MOL har på Oshima Shipbuilding kontraheret en panamax bulkcarrier med et frontmonteret sejl, der ifølge rederiet vil være i stand til at reducere brændstofforbruget med imellem 5 og 8 procent.

Brændstofreduktionen afhænger - ud over vinden - af, hvilken rute skibet sejler. På ruterne mellem Japan og Australien forventes en besparelse på 5 procent, mens der ventes en besparelse på 8 procent på ruterne mellem Japan og den amerikanske vestkyst.

Der foreligger ingen oplysninger om, hvor meget rederiet har betalt for det 99.000 DWT store kulskib, der ventes leveret i 2022.
