M.A.R.S skal skrotte kæmpe FPSO-skib

Der venter ophugningsværftet M.A.R.S. i Frederikshavn masser af arbejde fra marts, når Teekay Petrojarl Floating Production leverer sit 21 år gamle produktions- og lagerskib Petrojarl Banff til miljøsikker og grøn ophugning på det nye værft i Nordjylland.

Det aldrende FPSO - det står for Floating Production Storage and Offloading skib - har arbejdet i Nordsøen, men er allerede taget ud af drift og har ligget i den britiske havn i Kishorn siden september.

Nu bliver den slæbt til værftet i Frederikshavn, der lever op til alle de nyeste standarder for grøn og miljøsikker ophugning.

“Vi er glade for at Teekay vælger at få Petrojarl Banff FPSO skrottet og genbrugt på en miljøvenlig måde på vores EU-godkendte, grønne facilitet på havnen i Frederikshavn og dermed bidrage til stimulering og vækst af den cirkulære økonomi,” hedder det i en udtalelse fra M.A.R.S.

Skibet, der blev bygget i 1997, er 120 meter langt og 42 meter bredt og blev taget ud af drift i fjor.

M.A.R.S. åbnede sit grønne ophugningsværft i Frederikshavn i 2019 og har blandt andet haft opgaven med at skrotte og genbruge de gamle platforme fra Tyra-feltet.
