Maersk vessel carrying a dead whale
SHIPPING: Maersk Norwich has entered the port of Rotterdam carrying a dead whale on its bulb. It is not known where the vessel has picked it up the approx. 12. metres long whale, expected to be a fin whale.
The whale was later removed from the bulb and transported to a site where a university institute removed part of the whale for research.
The 2.600 TEU container vessel Maersk Norwich was on route from Santa Marta in Colombia to Rotterdam, when it hit the whale.
The Maersk Norwich is 120 is chartered by Maersk Line and deployed in a Caribbean/Central America service.
