Maersk Line raises rates to North Europe
SHIPPING: Maersk Line, the world's largest container shipper, will raise its freight rates, from the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinet to North Europe and the Mediterranean, two times in the first quarter of 2011.
According to Maersk Line, the rates in the Middle East - Europe trade have eroded significantly over the last 2 months. In order to maintain the service levels that Maersk’s customers are accustomed to, the shipping line will raise their twice over the next three month.
Effective from February 1, there will be a general rate increase of 200 dollar per 20’ and 400 dollar per 40' dry- and reefer container, send from the Middle East & Indian Subcontinent to North Europe and the Mediterranean.
Effective from March 1, there will be a additional general rate increase of 250 dollar per 20’ and 500 dollar per 40' dry- and reefer container, send from the Middle East & Indian Subcontinent to North Europe and the Mediterranean.
