Mærsk boreskib sætter ny rekord

Maersk Drillings boreskib Maersk Venturer har sat ud for kysten af Uruguay gennemført en efterforskningsboring på en vanddybde af 3.400 meter - den hidtil største vanddybde. Den tidligere rekord lød på 3.174 meter og blev sat i 2013.

Brønden, der befinder sig 160 sømil ud for Uruguay, blev boret af Maersk Venturer for et konsortium bestående af olieselskaberne Total og ExxonMobil. Brønden bærer navnet Raya-1. Boretiden var 100 døgn

Selv om dybden på 3.400 meter er ny rekord, er Maersk Venturer i stand til at operere på endnu større vanddybder – helt op til 3.600 meter.

Den tidligere rekord blev i 2013 sat af Transocean’s ultra-deepwater boreskib Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1 ud for Indien. Her lå dybden på 3.174 meter.
