Krydstogtveteran skrottes i Kina

Det første krydstogtskib, der nogensinde er blevet bygget for Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCCL) er solgt til skrotning i Kina. Det 23.000 bruttoton store Formosa Queen blev søsat fra et værft i Finland i 1970. Da skibet løb af stabelen var det kun på 18.000 bruttoton.

Song of Norway, som skibet oprindeligt hed, var det første af de tre nybygninger, der lagde grunden til Royal Caribbean Cruises' (RCCL) krydstogtoperationer. Rederiet råder i dag over en stor flåde af krydstogtskibe, her iblandt verdens største krydstogtskib Allure of The Seas.

Fartøjet blev ombygget i 1978, hvor størrelsen blev forøget med 5.000 bruttoton og passagerkapaciteten steg fra 724 til 1.024.

Det forlod RCCL’s flåde i 1997 og blev senest solgt, for at tjene som et kasino skib til Formosa Queen Corp i Taiwan.
