Kina har udviklet atomdrevet torpedo

Ifølge den anerkendte avis South China Morning Post har kinesiske forskere udviklet en ny atomdrevet torpedo, med en rækkevidde på hele 10.000 kilometer. Torpedoen kan dermed affyres ud for Kina og ramme mål ved den amerikanske stillehavskyst.

Hvordan torpedoen finder sit mål så langt fra affyringsstedet, er ikke oplyst, men torpedoen er udstyret med en ny type atomreaktor, der er let at masseproducere og billig at bygge.

Den nye torpedo er ikke større end den kan affyres fra krigsskibe, der er i stand til at affyre konventionelle torpedoer.

Rusland har også udviklet en langtrækkende torpedo, Poseidon. Men i modsætning til den kinesiske udgave er den russiske dyr at bygge.

Herover ses en kinesisk ubåd af typen 039, der er en af de ubåde der ifølge Ingeniøren er i stand til at affyre de nye torpedoer.
