International honour to Lauritzen
SHIPPING: Jens Ditlev Lauritzen, Chairman of the Lauritzen Foundation (Lauritzen Fonden), received the "Lifetime Achievement Award" at the IBJ Awards 2010 at the Savoy Hotel in London on 15 November 2010 for his many years of contribution to the bulk shipping industry.
The prestigious award is established by International Bulk Journal (IBJ), the leading magazine for the maritime dry bulk industry. The award celebrates companies and individuals

Jens Ditlev Lauritzen became president of Lauritzen Bulkers in 1998 resuming the responsibility of J. Lauritzen's dry bulk activities. With Jens Ditlev Lauritzen at the helm, Lauritzen Bulkers has developed into a recognised owner and operator of bulk carriers.
In the spring of 2009 Jens Ditlev Lauritzen was appointed Chairman of the Lauritzen Foundation and resigned as president of Lauritzen Bulkers, being replaced by Ejner Bonderup.
"It is a great honour for me to receive this award, which I would like to share with the many professional employees at Lauritzen Bulkers, who are the prerequisite for the great progress of the company in recent years", says Jens Ditlev Lauritzen.
The strong international profile of Lauritzen Bulkers was further confirmed at the awards as Lauritzen Bulkers was nominated in the category "Bulk Ship Operator of the Year".
The Lauritzen Foundation is the parent company of shipowners J. Lauritzen (wholly-owned) and DFDS (36% owned) as well as LF Investment ApS. LF Investment has holdings in companies in the fields of oil analysis, measuring equipment, software, biotechnology and the real estate market. The Foundation's welfare operations cover social and humanitarian work inside Denmark's borders and abroad, together with training and education and cultural activities in addition to the Foundation's special interest in the maritime sector. The Lauritzen Foundation makes awards totalling DKK 20-25m annually.
