Head of Technical Procurement - Marine Operations
We are currently looking for a procurement professional to build and capitalize on our growing ferry fleet. Our current focus is purchasing but our ambition is to build a technical procurement team that may be the first category in a future corporate supply management structure. You will re-engineer our processes and set up new ones that do not exist. We are looking for someone who is passionate about building new on an existing solid foundation.
You will lead a small professional purchasing team and focus on team development, spend under management and long-term contracts.
Organizational unit: Destination Gotland AB or Alvina Shipping AS (Go Nordic Cruiseline)
Location: Visby or Copenhagen
Reporting to: Head of Marine Operations
Objectives with the role
- To be responsible for efficient procurement of common systems, spare parts, consumables, stores, repair services, lubes, paints, chemicals, tools etc. for all vessels under Gotlandsbolaget’s ownership or control.
- To ensure that we have the correct cost levels, work efficiently from sourcing to pay and prevent over-ordering and running out of stock.
Key responsibilities
- Managing an effective procurement process (sourcing to pay) for technical procurement.
- Identifying suppliers
- Maintaining supplier relationships
- Supplier vetting / Supplier governance
- Negotiations with suppliers and concluding agreements.
- Purchasing logistics (placing orders / coordinating deliveries)
- Cost control and minimizing TCO
- Spend management, categorization, budgeting (function and systems/tools), forecasting and reporting
- Overall quality of the procurement process
- Developing necessary IT systems and process automation
- Leadership of the technical purchasing organization
Working close together with superintendents and ships’ crew in accordance with above responsibilities.
What we’re looking for
- A relevant university degree
- Previous background from shipping or as supplier to the shipping industry.
- Proven background as category manager (f.ex. MRO) with responsibility for a significant portfolio of large supplier contracts
- Demonstration of success from negotiations with suppliers.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. Communicative both oral and written
- Fluent in English and able to communicate with Swedes, Norwegians and Danes
