Greenpeace border britisk borerig

Greenpeace aktivister har bordet en Transocean rig - Paul B. Loyd, Jr. - chartret af BP til at bore efter olie i Nordsøen ud for Skotland. Greenpeace siger at de gennemfører aktionen fordi de frygter, at fortsat olieefterforskning vil betyde, at klimamålene i Paris-aftalen ikke bliver indfriet.

De to Greenpeace-aktivister om bord siger at de vil fortsætte deres protest, indtil BP opgiver at gennemføre efterforskningsboringer ud for Skotland.

”Vi deler aktivisternes bekymring for klimaet, og vi støtter Paris-aftalens mål fuldt ud”, skriver BP i en kommentar til aktionen.

”Vi anerkender retten til fredelig protest, men vi mener at aktivisterne handler uansvarligt og bringer dem selv og andre i fare”, hedder det videre.

BP er i kontakt med de britiske myndigheder med henblik på at løse situationen.

Olieselskabet har chartret boreriggen frem til november måned, med mulighed for yderligere forlængelse.
