Fredericia Shipyard moves to Lindo
YARDS: Fredericia Shipyard has made a contract with Odense Steel Shipyard on renting Lindo's original dock facilities and a number of buildings for administration, workshop and locker rooms etc. Fredericia Shipyard will have an area of 100.000 m at their disposal.
The contract runs for minimum 25 years. Fredericia Shipyard is initiating reconstructions already this year to be ready at Lindo from the 1st of January 2011 with half of its repair activities, after which the rest is moved to Lindo the following year.
"We have cooperated with Lindo for many years on projects and repaired ships for A.P. Moller-Maersk. At Lindo, we will get favourable space- and production conditions, so we can continue the development from the position we have reached in Fredericia.
Behind the results in Fredericia are 450 employees. Having them move to Lindo is important if the transformation should succeed fully. That is why Lindo's central placement in relation to both employees and clients has influenced the decision. We have not planned to stop productions while moving from Fredericia to Lindo", says ship constructor Thomas Andersen, Fredericia Shipyard.
Fredericia Shipyard is investing a two figured million amount of ? on the moving to Lindo and changes name to FAYARD. There is only one reservation for the final environment approval of the agreement.
"We are happy that we so fast after the passing of our new business plan have gotten a renting contract in place with Fredericia Shipyard, and we are sure that Fredericia Shipyard will take good care of Lindo", says CEO Finn Buus Nielsen, Lindo Shipyard.
