Første store svenske færge drevet af LNG

Det svenske Rederi AB Gotland kan kontraheret en ny LNG-drevet færge på GSI værftet i Kina. Færgen bliver den første store LNG-drevne færge under svensk flag og skal fra 2017 sejle mellem Nynäshamn og Visby.

Den nye færge, der får en kapacitet på 1.650 passagerer, erstatter to af de nuværende færger på den nordlige rute til Gotland – Gotlandia og Gotlandia II. Det vides endnu ikke hvad der skal ske med de to færger når den nye ankommer i første halvår 2017.

Et andet uafklaret spørgsmål er, hvor skibet skal bunkre LNG. Der findes i øjeblikket hver anlæg i Nynäshamn eller Visby.

Med en pris på omkring 1,5 milliarder svenske kroner er færgen den hidtil største investering i rederiets 150-årige historie. Ifølge Søfart er det danske OSK ShipTech der har designet den nye færge.
