Cargo & Customs Specialist
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Cargo & Customs Specialist to join our team in Copenhagen! If you’re passionate about logistics, enjoy working in a dynamic environment, and thrive at the intersection of precision and collaboration — this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
About the position
As part of our Cargo & Customs team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that all cargo bookings and customs processes run efficiently and in full compliance with regulations. You’ll work closely with our colleagues in Oslo and onboard our vessels, ensuring seamless coordination across borders and departments. You will be based in our Copenhagen office, reporting to the Cargo & Customs Supervisor.
Your key responsibilities
As our Cargo & Customs Specialist, your main tasks will include:
- Customs handling (DK & EU): Managing import/export processes, EU customs clearance, and providing commercial customs support for suppliers and partners.
- Cargo bookings: Managing and following up on inquiries in the shared cargo mailbox, ensuring accurate data entry in Lynx, and coordinating task distribution with the Oslo office.
- Daily voyage follow-up: Maintaining continuous communication with vessels, terminal staff, and stevedores. This includes manifest handling and reporting to relevant authorities.
- Staffing & administration: Ensuring adequate staffing for all vessel calls (in coordination with your manager) and approving working hours in Planday (or equivalent systems).
- Operational support: Assisting the Oslo team when needed and contributing to the efficient execution of daily operations across all departments.
- Weekend duties: Please note that weekend duties are part of the role, compensated with corresponding time off.
What's in your suitcase?
We’re looking for someone with both structure and curiosity — a person who enjoys having things in order but also takes initiative when challenges arise. You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
- Experience or education within logistics, shipping, or customs operations.
- Solid understanding of Danish and EU customs procedures and documentation.
- A commercial mindset with an eye for process optimization.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively across international teams.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Danish or another Scandinavian language is a significant advantage.
- System proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office and logistics systems (e.g., Lynx, Emma Systems, or Planday).
Why choose us?
When you come aboard, you’ll be part of a company with a proud maritime heritage and a clear ambition for the future. We offer:
- A key role in ensuring smooth cargo operations between Copenhagen and Oslo.
- A workplace characterized by teamwork, engagement, and shared responsibility.
- Opportunities to develop your skills within logistics, digital systems, and commercial processes.
- Competitive terms, including pension, canteen, and travel benefits.
