Wärtsilä leverer scrubbere til ro/ro-skibe

Wärtsilä skal levere scrubbersystemer til det hollandske rederi Royal Wagenborg. Scrubberne skal installeres på de to ro/ro-skibe Balticborg og Bothniaborg. Det bliver Wärtsiläs første leverance af scrubbersystemer til Royal Wagenborg.

”Vi har i mange år nydt et succesfuldt samarbejde med Wärtsilä og har valgt Wärsilä-løsninger til mange skibe i vores flåde. Dette forhold var en af grundene til, at vi besluttede, at Wärtsilä skulle være leverandør af disse scrubbersystemer”, siger Egbert Vuursteen, adm. direktør for Royal Wagenborg.

De to skibe er beskæftiget ifølge en langsigtet fragtkontrakt med Smurfit Kappa om ugentlige afskibninger af papirprodukter mellem Haraholmen, Bremen, Sheerness og Terneuzen. Disse ruter ligger inden for Østersøens og Nordsøens ECA-område, og ved at installere scrubber-systemer vil skibene kunne overholde svovlreglerne samtidig med, at de kan sejle på det almindelige HFO. Retrofittingen finder sted i efteråret.

Systemerne, der er valgt til de to skibe, er Wärtsiläs hybridscrubbere, hvilket betyder, at man kan bruge både closed loop- og open loop-teknologi.

Både Balticborg og Bothniaborg, der også har fået installeret Wärtsilä-motorer, har skibsklasse 1A og er designet til at sejle i temperaturer ned til -25 grader. Det forhold blev der også taget højde for ved valget af scrubbersystem.

Royal Wagenborg driver cirka 180 skibe, heraf er 70 helt ejet af rederiet.
