Verdens største containerskib anløber Kina

Det andet skib i serien på fem store 19.100 TEU containerskibe, der bygges i Ulsan, Korea, til China Shipping Container Lines, lagde til kaj i Xiamen, Kina, hvor skibet havde sin debut. Det er samtidig en milepæl for Xiamen Havns containerkapacitet.

Søsterskibet CSCL Globe.

Skibet CSCL Pacific Ocean er 400 meter langt, 58,6 meter bredt. Det er lige så højt som en ejendom på 23 etager og har et areal, der svarer til fire fodboldbaner. CSCL Pacific Ocean vil ligesom søsterskibet CSCL Globe blive sat ind mellem Fjernøsten og Europa, hvor de vil være med til at sikre det kinesiske rederi CSCL større indflydelse.

Det er i øvrigt kun for en kort bemærkning, at disse skibe vil have titlen som verdens største containerskibe. Allerede i denne måned ventes MSC at få leveret sit nye skib MSC Oscar på 19.224 TEU.
