Schweizere skal drive irakiske skibe

Det irakiske Statsselskab for Maritim Transport, har indgået en 5-årig kontrakt med det schweiziske selskab, Global Refinery of Switzerland, om i fællesskab at drive en flåde på 66 irakiske skibe

"Vi ønsker at genopbygge den irakiske infrastruktur, og denne kontrakt er et led i genopbygningen af den maritime infrastruktur", siger Ismat Amer, der leder statens maritime transportselskab.

Sidste år købte det irakiske selskab sit første skib, et fragtskib. Og nu er det så planen at opkøbe og bygge yderligere 66 tankskib og fragtskibe, der skal udgøre rygraden i Iraks kommende handelsflåde.

Siden invasionen i 2003 har Irak stort set ikke haft nogen handelsflåde. Alligevel er 100 statsansatte fortsat beskæftiget med at tilse handelsflåden. Disse ansatte skal fremover arbejde for det schweiziske selskab, der til gengæld for kontrakten, skal betale det irakiske statsselskab en fast procentdel af overskuddet.
