Pirater kidnapper besætning på tanker

Pirater angreb lørdag morgen den 25. maj det nigeriansk-flagede produkttankskib Matrix 1 omkring 40 sømil ud for kysten ved Bayelsa i Nigeria. Nogle af den 17 mand store besætning skulle angiveligt være blevet bortført af piraterne.

Operatøren af fartøjet, Val Oil Trading Co, har bekræftet angrebet, men oplyser ikke yderligere detaljer. Besætningen skulle bestå af 12 pakistanere og 5 nigerianere.Det vides ikke, hvor mange besætningsmedlemmer, der er kidnappet eller hvordan resten af besætningen har det.

Skibet skulle ifølge AIS data fra den 27. maj om aftenen have kastet anker ud for Bonny - Obopo kystlinjen.

Produkttankskibet Matrix 1 har en dødvægt på 5.800 tons, er bygget i 1992. Det sejler under Nigerias flag og opereres af Val Oil Trading SA i Grækenland.
