New windpower orders for Semco Maritime
MARITIME INDUSTRY: Semco Maritime has received orders for two offshore transformer stations for offshore wind parks which will be built in Germany and Belgium. In total the orders amount to around 150 million kroner.
”We have a clear strategy to triple our turnover within offshore wind energy over the next four years. The new orders are a good start and will further improve our opportunities to win even more wind orders in the future”, says Carsten Nielsen, Vice President at Semco Maritime.
The project in Germany is for the offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 1, which DONG Energy will build in 2013-2015. The offshore wind farm will be one of the largest in Germany with a capacity of 320 MW. The project in Belgium is for the offshore wind farm Northwind, which will be built 40 km off the coast of Belgium with a total capacity of 216 MW.
For both these projects Semco Maritime will be responsible for design, procurement, installation and test of all technical systems of the transformer stations. In the Belgian project Semco Maritime will also supply the high voltage systems on the transformer station. The two projects have been won in cooperation with Bladt Industries, and the installation work will be carried out at Bladt Industries facilities in Aalborg.
Semco Maritime has carried out a wide range of projects for the offshore oil and gas sector i.a. in the North Sea, Asia and the Middle East and for the past years the company has successfully transferred these competences to the offshore wind sector.
