Maersk Etienne beskadiget i kollision

Det danske tankskib Maerks Etienne kolliderede søndag aften med det Panama-registrerede tørlatsskib Coral Opal. Kollisionen skete i Irbestrædet nær Miíeïbâka fyrtårn, da skibet var på vej fra Rouen i Frankrig til Riga i Letland. Begge skibe fik skader, men ingen personer.

Den lettiske flådes center for redningscoordination havde observeret, at de to skibe udf¸rte risikable manøvrer, der altså endte med, at de stødte sammen. Begge skibe blev beskadiget kraftigt i kollisionen, men var i stand til selv at sejle videre.

Coral Opal fik slået et mindre hul i en ballasttank. Der skete ikke nogen forurening i forbindelse med uheldet. Men en helikopter haren smule olie på havoverfladen.

Coral Opal, der kom fraOglu Terminalen i Riga og var på vej til Amsterdam med en last kul, fortsatte sejladsen til Ventsils, hvor skibet kastede anker. Maersk Etienne fortsatte til Riga, hvor skibet lagde til kaj i går aftes.

Maersk Etienne på 36.941 DWT blev bygget i 2004 og er registreret i Danmark. Tankskibet er 187 meter langt.

Coral Opal blev bygget i 2012 og er registreret i Panama. Bulk carrieren er på 78.090 DWT og 225 meter landt.
