Kostbar bortskaffelse af Baltic Ace

Det bliver en bekostelig affære for de hollandske skatteydere at få fjernet vraget af bilskibet Baltic Ace, der sank den 5. december 2012 kun 15 minutter efter at det var kollideret med containerskibet Corvus J. tæt på indsejlingen til Rotterdam.

Rijkswaterstaat bekræfter at den kontrakt man har indgået med bjergningsselskaberne Boskalis og Mammoet om at fjerne skibet løber op i 67,5 millioner euro - over en halv milliard danske kroner.

Vraget af Baltic Ace ligger på 35 meter vand omkring 40 sømil fra Goeree-Overflakkee, midt i et af de mest trafikerede farvande i verden.

Der befinder sig 1.400 biler og 540.000 liter fuel oil om bord på skibet, hvilket med tiden vil udgøre en trussel mod miljøet.
