Kina åbner containerrute via Nordøstpassagen

Det kinesiske rederi Haijie Shipping Company åbner nu en ny containerrute mellem Nordeuropa og Kina via Nordøstpassagen. Sejltiden er beregnet til 18 døgn mod 40-50 døgn for den traditionelle rute via Suezkanalen eller syd om Afrika.

Første sejlads afgår den 20. september, hvor containerskibet Istanbul Bridge - der har en kapacitet på 4.890 TEU og isklasse 1C - vil forbinde de kinesiske havnebyer Ningbo, Qingdao og Shanghai med Felixstowe, Rotterdam og Hamborg.

En prøvesejlads fra Skt. Petersborg til Qingdao er undervejs lige nu, og forventes gennemført på 25 døgn.

Den nye containerrute er ikke en helårsrute, men en sæsonrute i august, september og oktober. Det er dog tanken at containerskibe med høj isklasse, senere vil være i stand til at udvide sæsonen betydeligt.

De store containerrederiet som Maersk, MSC og CMA CGM har alle sagt, at de ikke planlægger sejladser via Nordøstpassagen. Ikke mindst af miljøhensyn.

Maersk har dog gennemført en enkelt sejlads, hvor Venta Maersk i august 2018 sejlede fra Fjernøsten til Skt. Petersborg.
