Italien har valgt havn til Costa Concordia

Den italienske regering har fredag godkendt en plan om at flytte det havarerede krydstogtskib Costa Concordia til den nærmeste havn, hvor det vil blive demonteret. Den valgte havn er Toscanas Piombino. Toscanske embedsmænd er tilfreds med regeringens beslutning.

Der er enighed om, at Piombino havn er den mest miljøvenlige, men også den bedste økonomiske løsning, på grund af havnens nærhed tæt på det berygtede skibsvrag, der ligger ved øen Giglio.

Lovgiverne bemærkede dog, at den nylige beslutning kan forsinke fjernelsen af vraget, muligvis helt til 2014, da man er nødt til at foretage nødvendige opgraderinger af havnen og dens faciliteter.

Ifølge Associated Press mener Italiens regeringskontor for civilbeskyttelse at det sandsynligvis til september skulle være muligt at flytte vraget.
