Grundstødt Maersk-skib glemte E-navigation

Selv om containerskibet Leda Maersk er udstyret med moderne navigationsinstrumenter for mange hundrede tusinde kroner, valgte både besætning og lods at navigere det 266 meter lange containerskib via øjemål ind gennem Lower Harbour Channel til Port of Otago i New Zealand. Det var ikke en god ide.

Skibet kom den 10. juni sidste år udenfor sejlruten i det sidste drej inden havneanlægget, og gik på grund. Der skete dog ikke større skade på skibet, og ingen kom til skade. Men The Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) slår I sin rapport om uheldet fast, at hverken lodsen eller besætningen på broen holdt øje med E-navigationen, hvor det tydeligt fremgik at skibet havde forladt den planlagte sejlrute midt i kanalen.

TAIC konkluderer, at besætningen ved at forlade sig på øjemål brød Maersks interne regler og procedurer for navigation i farvand med lods om bord, og at lodsen tilsvarende brød de tilsvarende newzealandske regler.

TAIC opfordrer på den baggrund, at såvel Maersk indskærper alle dets skibe vigtigheden af, at de

TAIC konkluderer, at besætningen ved at forlade sig på øjemål brød Maersks interne regler og procedurer for navigation i farvand med lods om bord – overholdes.
