Finsk politi: Anker kunne udløse større skade

Det anker som et svensk marinefartøj fandt på bunden af Den Finske Bugt, på det sted hvor slæbesporet hen over havbunden stoppede, kunne have forvoldt endnu større skade, hvis ikke de finske myndigheder havde beordret, at ankeret skulle hæves.

Det slår finsk politi nu fast.

“Hvis ankeret først løsnede sig da det blev trukket op, er det sandsynligt, at det kunne have forårsaget yderligere skade på havbundens infrastruktur, hvis fartøjet havde fortsat sin sejlads”, siger kriminalinspektør Risto Lohi fra National Bureau of Investigation, med henvisning til at de finske myndigheder beordrede Eagle S til at hæve ankeret.

Udmeldingen kommer samtidig med, at politiet slår fast, at en kriminalteknisk analyse af ankeret har slået fast, at det tilhører Eagle S.

Ankeret, der blev bjærget den 6. januar, måler cirka 4 meter i længden, 2,5 meter i bredden, og vejer 11 tons.

Undersøgelser på havbunden slår samtidig fast, at slæbeporet er længere end først antaget - cirka 100 kilometer i alt. Politiet fortsætter med at analysere slæbesporet.
