EU Customs Clauses updated
MARITIME SERVICE: Two charter party clauses introduced to assist owners and charterers in meeting the advance cargo notification requirements of the EU Advance Cargo Declaration Regulations have been updated.
The new editions of the voyage and time charter clauses have been produced as part of an on-going review of the practical implementation of the EU legislation a year and a half after it came into force.
The key features of the updated clauses are that they now take account of notification procedures relating to cargoes in transit through EU ports destined for ports outside the EU.
While the time charter party clause requires the charterers to file the appropriate cargo notification both for imports and exports, the voyage charter clause now requires the owners to submit notifications for imports while the charterers handle exported cargoes.
