DP World investerer mia. i Nordøstpassagen

Havne- og logistikkoncernen DP World, som blandt andet ejer det danske rederi Unifeeder, går nu sammen med det russiske atomenergiselskab Rosatom om at udvikle containerskibsfart nord om Rusland via Nordøstpassagen.

Målet er at skabe et kommercielt alternativ til Suezkanalen, for containertrafikken mellem Europa og Asien.

DP World investerer 2 milliarder dollars, svarende til knap 13 milliarder kroner, i projektet - der skal etablere den nødvendige infrastruktur langs den arktiske sejlrute.

Investeringerne indgår i den russiske plan for økonomisk udvikling frem mod 2035.

De russiske myndigheder sidder tungt på udnyttelsen af den arktiske sejlrute, der kun kan passeres med en særlig tilladelse. Indtil nu har 640 skibe fået tilladelsen i år, mod 500 i samme periode sidste år.

Hovedparten af trafikken på ruten er relateret til eksport af LNG, men herudover har 87 udenlandske skibe indtil nu fået tilladelse til at benytte ruten i 2021.

DP World har hovedsæde i Dubai.
