DFDS reflags Swedish ships
SHIPPING: DFDS has reached an agreement with the Swedish trade unions regarding the conditions for transferring Swedish seafarers to work on ships under Danish flag. The agreement follows the reflagging four DFDS ships calling Gothenburg to Danish flag.
The four ships calling Gothenburg under the Swedish flag are to be reflagged to the Danish flag in order to achieve economies of scale, so that DFDS is better equipped to face increased competition.
In connection with this, consultations have taken place with the Swedish trade unions regarding the conditions for transferring Swedish seafarers to ships under the Danish flag.
“I am very pleased that agreement has now been reached on the terms and conditions and I feel that the vast majority of Swedish seamen want to follow the ships when they sail under the Danish flag. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to welcome our Swedish colleagues to DFDS A/S, where they will now be employed”, says DFDS Crewing Director Tom Møller.
Toe Begonia will be reflagged on 24 July (and will simultaneously be renamed Begonia Seaways ); Tor Freesia will be reflagged on 3 August (and renamed Freesia Seaways), Magnolia Seaways will be reflagged on 5 September and Selandia Sesays will be reflagged on 6 September.
