De somaliske pirater rører på sig igen

Efter en længere periode med lav aktivitet, er de somaliske pirater ved at optrappe deres aktiviteter igen. Det sker på bund af bedre vejr i området - og fordi et stort antal kaprede skibe er blevet løsladt igen.

"Det lader til at gunstige vejrforhold i området, og det forhold at et stort antal kaprede skibe er blevet løsladt igen, gør, at piraterne igen er begyndt at søge efter nye ofre", siger Noel Choong, der er leder af Det Internationale Maritime Bureau i Kuala Lumpur.

Alene i denne uge, har der indtil nu været seks angreb, der dog alle er blevet afværget.

Choong er overbevist om, at de internationale krigsskibe i området gør en forskel.

"Antallet af vellykkede angreb er faldet på grund af krigsskibene", siger Choong til AFP.

Ifølge IMB har der været 22 piratangreb i år. Syv skibe og 123 besætningsmedlemmer befinder sig i øjeblikket i piraternes vold, oplyser Choong.
