Brand på containerskib i Suez-kanalen

ET 13.000 TEU containerskib oplevede en mindre brand da det passerede gennem Suez-kanalen i weekenden. Nogle containere på Hanjin Green Earth brød i brand, da skibet befandt sig cirka 27 sømil syd for Port Said på vej nordpå i kanalen den 1. maj.

”Vi er ikke klar over årsagen til branden. Vi bliver nødt til at gå gennem inspektionsrapporter”, siger en talsmand for Hanjin Shipping til IHS Maritime.

Det engelsk-flagede skib var på vej mod Nordeuropa fra Jeddah i Saudi-Arabien, da ilden opstod Flammerne blev slukket efter tre timer. Der skete ikke udslip eller kom mennesker til skade i forbindelse med branden.

Den nedenstående video viser skibet ved ankomst til Port Said i fredags. Skibet ligger nu for anker omkring 10 sømil nord-nordøst for PortSaid ved Suez-kanalens udmunding i Middelhavet og afventer inspektion.
