BIMCO delegation for Indian Summit
MARITIME SERVICE: Under the Chairmanship of Yudhishthir Khatau, BIMCO’s Executive Committee will be holding its Autumn meeting in Mumbai in conjunction with the India Shipping Summit 2012.
To mark the occasion, two events are being organised by BIMCO: on the morning of 8 October, BIMCO39, the well-known networking platform for professionals under the age of 45 who are employed by BIMCO member companies, will hold one of its lively and informal meetings, free to members and non-members.
“Current Market Conditions and Future Commercial Challenges” will be the theme, with an introduction from Mr. Khatau. Speakers will include Mr. Anil Kumar Jain, Executive Director of India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, who will profile business prospects in offshore energy and suggest the value addition expected by clients in this increasingly important sector plus Peter Sand, BIMCO’s Chief Shipping Analyst, who will examine the health of the dry, wet and container sectors, along with the state of shipyards and shipbuilding. Turkish shipowner and BIMCO Executive Committee member, Mrs. Sadan Kaptanoglu will offer closing remarks.
In the afternoon of 8 October, the “Meet BIMCO” event will provide a good opportunity for all members of the Indian maritime community to gain an up-to-date picture of the full range of BIMCO services. At this event, the President will speak to members and invited guests on “The Importance of Shipping to the Global Society and Green Shipping”, when he will underline the essential nature of this global industry and emphasise its environmental credentials as the most sustainable method of moving goods around the world in the 21st Century.
BIMCO Secretary General and CEO, Mr. Torben Skaanild, will then provide a “BIMCO’s eye view” of the global economic outlook and summarise the main international maritime policy issues with which the shipping industry and BIMCO are wrestling. There will be time for questions and debate, after which a “Meet BIMCO” reception will be held for all participants.
Members and non-members are more than welcome. For more details, please click the links below to access the programmes and/or the registration forms.
