APL England tabte containere for anden gang

Det var ikke en ny oplevelse at tabe containere for APL England, som det skete søndag morgen. De australske maritime myndigheder (AMSA) oplyser nu, at det 5.510 teu store skib i august 2016 tabte 37 containere, da det rullede voldsomt i hård sø ud for Australiens kyst.

Denne gang blev containerne også tabt, fordi skibet begyndte at rulle voldsomt i den hårde sø. APL England sejler i dag under en helt anden ledelse end i 2016, oplyser AMSA, men understreger, at “dette er endnu et eksempel på nødvendigheden af, at besætninger og operatører sikrer lasten og driften af skibet for at udgå denne type af forurening af havet”.

Ved tabet af 40 containere i søndags, blev et kortvarigt maskinstop angivet som årsagen til, at skibet begyndte at rulle så voldsomt, at containerne røg over bord.

AMSA siger, at denne hændelse “i bemærkelsesværdig grad” ligner tabet af containere fra Yang Ming skibet YM Efficiency den 1. juni 2018 i australsk farvand.

“Begge skibe rapporterede om tab af maskinkraft, der førte til voldsom rulning og kollaps af container-stacks,” siger AMSA.

YM Efficiency tabte 81 containere for knap to år siden og først for nylig er den sidste container blevet bjærget fra havbunden.
