17 søfolk kidnappet fra to skibe

I et angreb med få timers mellemrum på to skibe blev 17 kinesiske og ukrainske søfolk onsdag kidnappet i farvandet ud for Douala, Cameroun, bekræfter myndigheder i landet ifølge nyhedsbureauet AFP.

Kilder i Camerouns flåde formoder, at det er nigerianske pirater, der står bag de to angreb. Det ene angreb var rettet mod et tyskejet fragtskib med en besætning på 12 ombord. Otte af dem blev kidnappet.

Under det andet angreb mod et græskejet fragtskib blev ni af den 21 mand store besætning kidnappet.

Myndighederne oplyser, at de har sat en eftersøgning i gang. Farvandet ud for Cameroun er en del af Guinea Bugten, der betragtes som et af de farligste områder i verden i forhold til piratangreb.

Ifølge det Internationale Maritime Bureau´s oversigt over piratangreb blev der i årets første halvår kidnappet 62 sømænd i området, der tegner sig for 73 pct. af alle verdens kidnapninger og 92 pct. af alle gidseltagninger til søs.
