Wärtsilä to supply ballast water systems
MARITIME INDUSTRY: Wärtsilä has won a contract to supply ballast water systems to four supply for Tidewater Marine, LLC - a leading provider of offshore service vessels to the global energy sector
"This contract is our first commercial order for the PSVs and the choice of a Wärtsilä ballast water management system from Tidewater Marine, LLC, underlines our confidence in ability to deliver in this new market," says Dr Joe Thomas, Director for Ballast Water Management Systems, Wärtsilä Environmental Solutions.
The supply includes four Wärtsilä AQUARIUS ® UV BWMS with a capacity of 250 cubic meters per hour for vessels to be delivered from COSCO (Guangdong) Shipyard in 2014. The systems will be assembled and sent from the Wärtsilä factory in the UK.
Wärtsilä AQUARIUS ® UV is a modular ballast water management system that involves filtering and medium pressure UV disinfection technology. It is designed to provide a secure, flexible and economical process. The first AQUARIUS ® UV system will be delivered to the shipyard in January 2013 and the remaining at an interval of two months.
