Shipping company worth next to nothing
SHIPPING: Not a single penny is left to creditors after the bankruptcy of Neko Seaways Ltd. in Nexø, Denmark, the liquidator announces. In the middle of February NeKo Seaways Ltd was asked by court to be liquidated.
The company had for several years worked on inserting a car ferry between Nexø and Kolobrzeg in Poland. The Bankruptcy Court on Bornholm declared Neko Seaways Ltd. bankrupt on 3 April. The role of liquidator was appointed Attorney Peter Vang, Rønne.
The company, which had a number of local shareholders, bought the ferry "Odin Baltica" a few years ago from a Polish shipyard for DKK 41.1 million. The ferry carry up to 275 passengers and 50 cars, but never came into operation because NeKo Seaways wasn’t able to raise the money.
Behind the company, founded in 18th April 2005, was Helge Rosted Hansen from Nexø. He was at one point both chairman and CEO. He was on the 4th of February 2011 declared personal bankrupt and sought for debt settlement earlier this month.
